Do What You Want! – Phrase Builder Diagram
Diagram for an interactive application that uses combinations of these words to create phrases. Done as a part of my Interactive Design class.

It doesn’t explain the project very well but I liked the info-graphic look so I thought I’d post it.
Type Stacking

For my Materials of Art & Design class we were told to stack objects and photograph them 5 times with only the light source changing to create different variations of light and shadow. I constructed 3D letterforms out of foamcore. I did some slight contrast alterations in Aperture but no Photoshop trickery was employed.
I Keep Moving To Be Stable

A gift for my good friend Jordan. His favorite line from Peter Gabriel’s Sky Blue.
PWND – Logotype Design
The final project for Typography 1 was to design a logotype using 2 or 3 letters of an acronym or our initials. I chose to do the 4-letter gaming/internet slang word PWND (see definition at the bottom of the post). I thought it would be funny to do a serious take on an outrageous word that my professor had no idea what it meant. I went through more than 120 concepts (see thumbnail sketches) before deciding on my final “visual palindrome” solution. The other images show the evolution in design and scale as I had to become more precise with my drawing while still keeping the essence and feel of the original. In case you were curious the color is Pantone 292.
PWND:
Originated as Pwned, a typo of “Owned” (O and P are next to each other on the keyboard) that gained popluarity as a joke and was later shortened to its current form. It is used to describe someone being dominated, destroyed, or humiliated, usually in an online gaming context. As in “That guy just got totally pwnd!”
Variants: Pwn3d!!1!, PwnZ0r, Pwnage, etc
P.S. It’s also funny that the day I post my visual palindrome design happens to have a palindrome date. 01-11-10 weird!
Hyper – Typographic Composition
This Type 1 assignment was an abstract composition using a 4-5 letter word. It had to include at least one character each of Bold, Regular, Light, Italic, Serif, and Sans Serif. It also had to include: contrast in scale, full bleed edges and figure/ground ambiguity (shapes made of negative space). I chose the word “Hyper”. Can you spot all the letters?
Universal Declaration of Human Rights – Article 12: Video, Poster Update
This was the final for my Communication Design class. I redesigned the typography for the posters and photoshopped them in urban environments to simulate what the campaign would look like. I also created this PSA for International Justice Mission to raise awareness of their work and the situation of the Burmese refugees in Thailand. Yes, that’s me doing the voice over on the video. Special thanks to Robbie DeLong for recording my voiceover and composing the music for the piece.
Warning: The video contains some graphic violence that might not be appropriate for everyone.
